An awesome autumn week’s carp and cat fishing for these 4 anglers with 28 fish landed including 7 x 30lbs carp to 38lbs and a 74lb catfish!

This week we welcomed our first serious group of autumnal carp anglers. Autumn is just an awesome time to be out on the bank and in recent years, low pressure which in turn creates warm, wet, mild conditions have been the norm. The result of course is carp fishing heaven with the carp feeding well on the bottom which is what we need them to do! This week was a classic example and the guys banked many stunning carp. They did get a little damp in the process but if you’re bothered about that sort of thing perhaps you should take up golf! I knew they were going to have a great week when I heard the news that they’d banked 7 fish by Sunday morning (they hadn’t even been on the bank for 24hrs!). By Tuesday the score was up to 13 and Dan very kindly tripped up an upper twenty for me to see during my Tuesday visit. The score continued to climb but in the end despite the very best efforts of the lads they ended up just short of the 30 mark (very rare!) with 28 fish. They beat themselves up over the handful of fish they lost but they really shouldn’t. Beausoleil is not that easy and the carp fight smart and very hard and the cats are a law unto themselves. No fish were lost due to mainline failure either which was good to see. The guys all followed my recommendation of the GR60X and it didn’t let them down. Tactics wise the guys followed my advice of trickling the bait in and fishing for one bite at a time. The lads absolutely loved the place and the way we run it and we’ve just received some lovely messages complimenting us on the venue, the quality of the fish and the way we run it. It’s comments like this that keep us working hard through the freezing cold and rain of winter! Unfortunately the carp gods did not smile equally amongst the group but everyone left with at least a low 30 under their belt, multiple PB’s and some very good memories. Fantastic work guys and brilliant carp photography too. It’s such a delight for us to sort through photos of this quality and thanks so much for the time and trouble you took taking them and noting their weights too. It was an absolute delight to welcome you to the venue and we very much look forward to seeing you again someday.
