The WOFTAM AC boys know how to catch big carp & catfish in France and walk away with a new lake record, multiple big cats and a hatful of 30’s!

WOFTAM AC might take their fishing seriously but they do so with a wicked sense of humour, fun and light hearted attitude. The four of them have been fishing together for 20 years and it’s fair to describe them as carp fishing holiday veterans that know what they want and where to get it. The main reason for this trip was to meet some of our monster catfish and they certainly did that with a 90lbs+ and two 70lbs. They also had a lake record grass carp at 38lbs 10oz and seven 30’s to just short of 40lbs which is great going for their first trip to the venue. They also achieved something very rare indeed in that they caught all of our species: mirror carp, common carp, grass carp, sturgeon and catfish. They even bagged the only fully scaled mirror that’s present. A fantastic week’s fishing for a great bunch of lads. They loved the place and vowed to return as soon as their busy fishing schedule allowed! It was a privilege to meet them and we very much look forward to seeing them in the future. What did you find were the best swims/tactics/baits?

We tried all swims on the lake. The shallow end wasn’t so good (home swim). The fish looked like they were ready to spawn. We caught from the point swims, catfish corner and from channel and bridge swims. Baiting tactics were spreads of bait and small traps. Blue Oyster accounted for all carp. All catfish were caught on readily available supermarket snack. (Sorry that’s an edge we’d like to keep to ourselves!)

How was the weather?

Heavy rain Sunday night, over cast early week, warmed towards the end of the week.

How did you find the accommodation?

Very good!

What could we do to improve your holiday?

Nothing at all! Everything was excellent

Would you recommend our venue to a friend?

No, no, no, no – only to keep it free to come back!!
