NEW: The week of 12 August 2023 is now available at £1200 for the week

A great week’s autumnal carp fishing with multiple PB’s, 7 x 30’s and a massive catfish!

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming back Alec and his dad Robert along with a couple of Alec’s friends. With warm, wet and mild conditions and a good south westerly blowing, the lads got off to a great start and by Monday afternoon had already taken the tally to ten! Jason and Matt were the comparative novices of the group and Matt had been struggling back home to even catch a carp. He’d come with one very simple objective in mind and that was to catch a 20. Now nothing is guaranteed in fishing but I was pretty confident that he’d achieve that! In the end he blew that goal clean out of the water banking one low twenty, two upper twenties, and two low thirties. Matt had a great week and fell in love with the venue right from the off. He broke his PB multiple times and has already begun planning a return trip! It was pleasure chatting with him and answering many of his carp fishing questions.

Jason is more experienced than Matt but by Monday he’d not managed to bank anything. I spent a very pleasant few hours chatting with Jason and he was soon into a nice carp. After a nerve raking battle Jason was cradling a new PB of 35lbs 8oz. I do love it when things like that happen! Robert got off to a very nice start with a PB mirror of 34lbs. He caught fairly steadily all week and ended up with six in total including three 30’s which is very good work. No real surprise amongst the group, carp catching machine Alec was yet again top rod with a total of 9 fish. Just the one 30 this time but a new catfish PB of 86lbs was very welcome! Like me, Alec found that spreading boilies along the margin and then fishing one in amongst them to be very successful.

It was a great to see Alec and Robert again and a pleasure to meet the two new recruits. We very much look forward to welcoming them back to the venue one day.
