The big catfish were seriously on the prowl this week but John still managed to single out 3 x 30’s for variety.
This week we welcomed a solo angler and his wife to the venue for the first time. His main target was carp but our big catfish can be very active in June if the temperature is right and this was the case this week. John started out in the Big Double and caught multiple catfish for the first few days and then when he moved to the Channel Swim was able to land a few carp all over 30lbs. Singling out the carp from the catfish when the cats are active can be a real challenge and John had to try multiple tactics. The task was made harder as he only fished days. Landing big catfish single handed is very hard and John did incredibly well as his wife was not always with him to assist. In fact while john nipped back to the house Mal found herself attached to a 75lb monster that certainly set her pulse racing! All things considered, I think they did very well. Beausoleil is no runs water and poses angling challenges that are way beyond that of many venues!
