Beausoleil regulars have their best session ever with 9 x 30’s to 39lbs, a new lake record and multiple PB’s!

This week we had the great pleasure of welcoming back Rob, who’s been visiting the venue since 2011, along with his buddy Simon who returned for his 2nd trip. Rob and Simon are big fans of the venue and love having the place to themselves. Like many regular visitors they take their fishing very seriously and will spend months planning the trip and dreaming of catching some of our beautiful specimens. Rob in particular has had a couple of tough sessions but undeterred by them, he persevered and has done very well. Beausoleil is not an easy venue and it’s certainly not for everyone but if you’re used to fishing syndicate waters or want to up your game and learn on the job then you will learn a lot by fishing Beausoleil.

The weather this week was very unusual for late April with frosts every night and I knew that the guys would need to bring their ‘A’ game to be in with a chance. Well, they had a belting session! Simon opened with a new PB mirror of 37lb 8oz. Caught on a single Nutty Banoffee cast to a showing fish. Rob opened his account a little later with a 34lbs 4oz mirror again on the Nutty Banoffee. By Wednesday they’d had seven carp and six of them were 30’s which is brilliant work. Rob stuck with the ever faithful Beausoleil rig but based on what he’d read from my previous reports he’d chosen to shorten them down to around 5″ as the carp have been doing the longer rigs too easily. Rob and Simon are as fanatical about hook sharpening as me and this was key to their great session. Simon went for short stiff rigs with baits D-rigged with floss to a ring and ended up top rod with nine fish in total.

Rob managed to catch the big Grassy at 39lbs (new lake record and a new PB). Perla is a rare visitor to the bank and it was great to see her out again and at a new top weight. Rob also broke his PB for mirror carp with not just one but two carp of 37lbs. Simon walked away with a PB mirror of 37lbs, PB common of 32lbs and a PB cat of 64lbs. Needless to say the guys were ecstatic with the results. They worked hard at it and were constantly searching for the faintest tell tale signs of carp and changing plans accordingly. The overnight temperatures made fish handling really quite painful but they did a great job and have some super photos of their captures. Brilliant work guys! We look very much look forward to seeing you again.

Catch Report Summary

They also had a couple of mid-sized cats to 64lbs and the big grassy made an appearance at a new lake record weight of 39lbs. The guys clocked up 5 PB’s between them, all despite some really cold weather. Excellent work boys!
