A delayed start and hard fishing conditions resulted in a tough session for Jack and his wife.
For the last week and a half we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming new guests to the venue. Due to unforeseen circumstances they were not able to arrive on time and in the end didn’t make it until Tuesday of the first week. By Friday Jack had only managed 10 hrs behind the rods but had banked a carp during this time so all looked fine. My 2nd visit was made on the following Wednesday and I was very surprised to hear that Jack had only managed to bank one other carp. We discussed his tactics and setup and I hoped that this would have a positive influence on the results but unfortunately it just never happened for Jack. Both Jack and Rachel loved the venue and accommodation and Jack took the tough conditions in his stride. Sometimes no matter what you do, it’s just not going to happen. Only time and experience tells you when you’ve reached this moment. Jack worked hard at his fishing and moved 10 times in the end. The unusually warm conditions and high pressure had the carp in the upper layers for much of the time and Jack hardly had a bleep or a liner. He did successfully convert both his chances though which was great. We do hope that we see them again and this result is not an accurate reflection of the quality of fishing that is generally available here at this time of year.
