Another exciting year for the anglers who came to Beausoleil to enjoy great carp fishing and stunning accommodation.
We have now finished our 4th year running the Beausoleil lake and venue and what a year it’s been! Thank you to all our wonderful visitors who make this such a special place and, while the fish enjoy a well deserved break, let’s take a look back through the most memorable stories of 2014.
Largest number of carp out in one week
One angler tops the leader board this year with 20 carp out in one week and would you believe it, it was his first fishing trip to France! Having said that, Tony is a very experienced and skilled angler and by getting his baiting strategy spot on, he just hauled out big carp after big carp. In fact, he’d already had 15 carp out by Tuesday and was slightly exhausted! Quite a session!
Largest number of carp and catfish out in one week by one angler
Craig, on his fourth visit to Beausoleil, did incredibly well with the highest number of fish to be landed by one angler in a single week: 19 fish in total, including 16 carp (8 x 30’s) and 3 good cats. What a result! Craig fished off snake bank the whole week and most fish fell to single popups on a reverse combi rig in the silt. Excellent work!

All species caught in one week
It’s very rare to catch mirror carp, common carp, grass carp, sturgeon and catfish in one session and this year, once again, only one angler managed it … and he did it in 72 hours! That’s the way it goes sometimes! An excellent result for Beausoleil regular Antony who, with his best mate Kevin, took 34 fish in total during the week. It was one special August week!
Special mention to the WOFTAM AC team who caught all 5 species during the week as well as the rarely seen fully scaled mirror.

Multiple catfish records
2014 was a special year for cat fishing at Beausoleil: we had been waiting since 2011 for the catfish record to be broken and it was broken twice! Massive congratulations to Alan and Philip who both broke the 100lb catfish mark with 2 different catfish! The smiles say it all…
Carp lake records
Two carp records were broken this year:
– Paul broke the grass record with Perla at 38lbs 10oz in June
– Tony broke the common carp record with Pepe at 37lbs
Largest number of 30lb+ carp out in one week for one angler
And finally, a special mention to Jon who was the angler with the largest number of 30lb+ carp out in one week with 9 beautiful specimen, here he is with some of his catches.
