Beausoleil veterans return to their favourite carp fishing destination and manage to trick a specimen or two!
This week we had the great pleasure of welcoming back Simon & Jenny. They first fished Beausoleil in 2002 not long after it opened and have been returning ever since. Simon’s a very experienced angler but this holiday is not about catching loads. It’s a holiday first of all, a quality break away from their busy professional lives. Simon doesn’t tend to do the nights but that never usually stops him from tricking a fish or two and this trip was no exception. Simons prefers to stick with the same simple single braided bottom rig that he’s always used. It works in an identical manner to my double bottom bait Beausoleil rig but he achieves the effect differently.
Simon likes to row baits out and carefully place them in among a few freebies and this approach worked as always. He also caught a couple by casting singles to showing fish. This is an under rated tactic but one I’ve used to good effect myself. It’s a confidence thing really. Unfortunately Simon didn’t get among the larger carp this trip but he did lose a good’un and got smashed by one of our angry big cats. Nothing new there!
It’s always a pleasure to welcome them back and they love the improvements we continue to make on the venue year on year which is great to hear. I’m sure we’ll be seeing them again in a year or two.
