Fishing from the Point swims
This is a very popular triple swim which covers the full length of the lake. The island margin opposite can be productive but it’s not in the same class as the margin on the other side of the island. It is possible to fish the snake bank margin on your left but pay close attention to line lay as the fish are very aware of mainline running along this margin. It’s easy to cover various depths of water from this one swim so it’s a good place to start if you’re not sure where to begin.
The swim at a glance:
Location: Northern margin, depths: 3 to 9 ft
Main features: Tree lined island margin, open water marks and bars.
Fishing tactics
You can target several hard or firm spots within easy casting range. Avoid areas of heavy chod and deep silt.
The island point is a popular place for a rig and produces fish regularly. Spread baits along the island margin to force the carp to move from bait to bait.
There is a gravel channel in front of the swim running right to left which the fish pass over from time to time.
The margins around this swim are snag free and this is definitely a swim from which you can safely target the big catfish in open water.
