An awesome fishing holiday for this week’s group with a record number of fish landed, 10 x 30lbs+ and a massive catfish!

This week we welcomed back yet another group of Beausoleil regulars that have been coming to us ever since we opened and this year they smashed it! Beausoleil is no runs water but if you get everything right, technically and tactically and the weather is with you then it’s possible to put together a big hit of carp and this is exactly what Kevin & Antony did. During the week they caught more fish than any other group over the last 3.5 years and that is some angling achievement on a water which sees as much angling pressure as Beausoleil and they ended up with 17 fish each! Antony caught all five species in 72hrs. This is a very rare feat and it’s the first time it’s been done this year and it’s never been done so quickly by anyone! Not to be outdone, on the very last morning Kevin caught 4 carp in 40 minutes including three thirties! I’m not sure this record will ever be broken. I’m massively impressed by the catch report and they thoroughly deserve it as they are both top lads.

One of the keys to their success was baiting strategy and they managed to sail that delicate line beautifully. Applying enough bait to keep the carp interested and searching for it but not too much so they could pick and choose and not little so that the fish lost interest and moved off is difficult. You can’t learn this stuff from books or videos or articles, it’s something you have to learn how to do and they got it spot on! Unfortunately, this year, Luke’s luck ran out and the fish got the better of him. He did bank two lovely commons though, a mid twenty and a mid thirty so it wasn’t a total disaster for him! I’m sure that poor mainline choice definitely cost him fish as his 15lb Subline failed multiple times despite being protected as much as possible with rig tubing. It was great to see them again and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them back next year.
