NEW: The week of 12 August 2023 is now available at £1200 for the week

With spawning out of the way, normal fishing service resumes with a nice selection of carp and cats caught!

This week we welcomed back one of our favourite father and son teams, David & Mike. David’s been fishing in France for 18 years and Mike’s been accompanying him for six of those so they are very familiar with the French holiday carp fishing scene. This would be their third visit to the venue which is a record for them as we are the only venue they’d returned to more than twice! In their own words, “We just love it here Matt!”. They’ve both caught multiple carp in excess of 50lbs and having scaled such angling heights, have decided to return to enjoy the unique atmosphere and great accommodation that we provide. With the carp still showing signs of spawning when they arrived and knowing how tough the previous week was, expectations and tactics were adjusted accordingly.

They had to wait until Sunday lunch for the first run but one of our smaller cats (47lbs) couldn’t resist a little snack and that started the ball rolling. The first carp came out on Monday, not massive by any standards but a nice spawned out mid twenty pound common all the same. Action increased steadily during the week and peaked with multiple runs on Tuesday night and the first big 90lb catfish was banked. Thursday saw the first low thirty out in the shape of Mr. Angry at 33lbs. This was caught this April at 37lbs and was clearly spawned out. One very nice touch is that no matter whose rod goes, Mike and David share runs. I love this idea as it guarantees fairly equal results at the end of the week and twice the fun for everyone! The worst that can happen is that one catches one more fish than the other and so there is still an element of competition! The guys ended up with 11 fish in total but by their own admission this could have been higher as there were a number of losses which potentially could have been avoided. So all in all, not a bad week’s fishing considering the carp have only just spawned. Well done guys!

Real mixture, rain cloud & sun. Warm in sun but cold when cloudy. Nights were very very cold.
