NEW: The week of 12 August 2023 is now available at £1200 for the week

Plenty of fun and games for these Beausoleil regulars with a bit of fishing along the way!

This week we welcomed back a group of friends that know the venue very well and in fact, this was their 7th trip. For them the fishing is just one piece of their holiday. The main attraction is getting away from their busy lives, recharging their batteries and immersing themselves in total tranquillity. Beausoleil is the venue where you can have the holiday that you want and they love the venue for that.

Job one was to erect the world’s largest tent in the Point swims, then the relaxation and fun could begin!

Light fishing

The guys hadn’t wet a line since their last visit to Beausoleil 4 years ago, so they were understandably a little rusty… After adjusting their setup to comply with our changed lake rules so that they could fish safely, they went on to fish the way they wanted.

The catch report is a little vague as for these guys, the actual weights of the carp are pretty immaterial, but they had 4 carp, largest one 37lbs, and one midsize cat.

Serious roaching

Onto the serious fun and one of the best games of the week involved roach! And the winner of who could catch the most roach from the island with 2 maggots was…….. Lewis with 5 fish! In order to keep this game interesting, we do need to up our game ourselves and grow some good uns! We’ll be netting the lake again this winter and when we do, many of the small roach will come out but we’ll try and select some better ones to grow onto proper specimens.

And a nice surprise to finish

Unfortunately, the guys had to leave early on Friday but not before one more challenge! They had seen plenty of activity in the little stream between the weirs and were determined to see what was in there. And they managed to catch a very nice tench which was a surprise. This is the first tench to my knowledge to have ever been caught! Catfish love tench so there aren’t many of them and 20mm boilies are not the method for the delicate, small mouthed tinca. This fish ended up in the stream after the torrential rain we had a couple of weeks ago so it’s now safely back in the lake.

The best way to summarise this week is to finish with Simon’s words:
