Arun gave it his all but bites were really hard to get this week.
This week we had the pleasure of welcoming Arun and Teresa to the venue for the first time. This was the first of 2 visits as they’ve already booked for April of next year. As always on arrival we did the lake tour and the guys immediately fell in love with the place. Arun is an experienced carp angler and was blown away by the number and variety of features to target. The last 2 weeks have been slow, not just here but all over France. Fortunately, Arun was totally unfazed by the conditions and was going to give it his very best shot.
Early on Saturday evening, Arun had the sturgeon first chuck after 10mn. What a start! By Monday, Arun had had a couple of takes but unfortunately the fish fell off within the first few seconds. We spent some time hook sharpening and did a tour in the boat to explore some of the popular marks.
On Wednesday, Arun reported that he’d had a short but epic battle with a large catfish which fell for one of his suspended leech rigs. After 20mn, the hook pulled once again. He was gutted but he took it on the chin. There was an amazing amount of fizzing and boshing going on all along snake bank so it was clear that the carp were heavily feeding on naturals. We talked through various options for how to get a bite in these conditions.
Saturday came round all too fast and despite Arun’s very best efforts, and multiple moves, he didn’t connect with another fish. It was great to see how much they enjoyed the place despite the challenging fishing and they can’t wait to come back next year and settle the score.
