A successful week’s fishing with carp to mid 40s on their first trip to the venue.

This week we welcomed Mario, Cor, Wendy and Petra to the venue from Holland for their first trip to us. For Cor this would be his first fishing trip to France but Mario is a seasoned angler that’s fished many waters in France over the last 15+ years. Mario and Cor fished as a pair and as Mario would be the lead angler, they decided to take on the challenge of Beausoleil without my assistance. This week was as much about having a relaxing holiday as the fishing. There were no expectations or targets to aim for. Everyone was just happy to arrive at our tranquil piece of paradise for the week’s fishing and relaxation.

I called around on Tuesday and Mario was very happy with his start. He’d managed to trick two very nice carp and with some nice stable weather, it all looked good for a few more bites. Cor was yet to get off the mark but Mario had already handed over all rods to his friend to get him off and running. After a quick oxygen check, a rig check and a chat, I left the guys to it. The ladies were looking happy, chilled and relaxed which was great. Happy wives, happy lives!

As oxygen levels were stable, I didn’t see the guys again until Saturday. Mario greeted us with a beaming smile and when I checked my phone I saw why. He’d had six in total and Cor had five. Best carp of the week was the mighty Cut Tail at 45lbs.

The guys didn’t use much bait, 10kg of pellets and the same of boilies. They used a high tech bait boat with the latest generation side scan echo sounder to find some spots and set their traps. Rigs were a simple snowman presentation on a soft coated braid.

We had a super week, beautiful accommodation, beautiful and healthy fish with wonderful variety. In total, a must for anyone who likes carp fishing. A difficult water which for me is a nice challenge. Thank you for the great week!
