Unfavourable weather for our first anglers of 2015 but good angling and great attitude bring the results with seven good carp caught at our exclusive venue.

Weather is such a massive factor in carp fishing and will always influence how easy or hard carp fishing can be. This week we welcome a new group of young lads from Holland who made the long drive from the Netherlands and across France to experience the French carp fishing experience. Two had been to France before but two hadn’t and spirits were high on arrival as they savoured the delights of our venue. All of the lads are regular carp anglers and fish for carp every week back home in Holland. They knew the weather was not going to be favourable for them but they remained in a buoyant mood un-phased by the challenge of a new water. They did the full 7 nights by the rods and woke to frosts most mornings which can be somewhat testing if you’re not used to it.

The guys took on my advice of fishing for a bite at a time, finding the carp and priming spots for 48hrs before fishing them. They also saw how sensitive our carp are to line angles and angling pressure. They also changed swims a number of times which certainly paid dividends. Bites can be quite localised in such conditions and there may only be one bite available each night so making sure you are in the right place at the right time is imperative.  Even when the lake is fishing well and the lake is producing multiple captures per night it’s still totally possible to get it completely wrong night after night and blank! (I have) Beausoleil is not an easy water but if you get it right and fish well it will reward you with some cracking specimens. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the guys and all things considered they did very well. I hope that if they return the weather is kinder to them.
