The week of 7 August 2027 has just become available

A wonderful week’s holiday with plenty of good fishing along the way!

This week we welcomed back Gary and Luan to the venue for their 2nd visit.  They both love nature, wildlife and fishing so this is the perfect holiday for them. They absolutely loved their first holiday with us and couldn’t wait to return. Gary had already done the tuition with me on the first trip but wanted me to spend half a day with him this time as he was feeling a little rusty. We had a great little session running through a few bits and pieces and I also gave Gary some new options for when he gets the time for fishing back home. By the time I left his rods and rigs were sorted and the game plan was set. Now it was just a question of putting it into action.

Another wonderful stay, it was just what we needed.

On Sunday, Gary got off the mark in style with a cracking mid thirty mirror. We only stocked this carp as a mid twenty last January and it’s already 10lbs up. They don’t all do that of course but he’s certainly one to watch in the future.

Monday was quiet but things got really busy on Tuesday with three takes on the bounce and two more during the day. Gary’s not really here for the catfish but he was blown away by the power of one of our big cats. Size is all relative of course. 64lbs is a very large animal but for us, this is not big. Not when you have them twice the size…

When I called around on Thursday morning, I got to see a carp on the bank, at 21lbs 8oz it was one of the smallest carp we have but who cares how big they are when they look like this. She’s a heavily scaled mirror that was born here naturally and that makes her special to us.

Gary also got to meet Perla for the 2nd time. She’s been fairly keen this year and was in fighting form as always. They had a double hookup for the second time this week and Luan ended up playing her in. She’s an absolute terror in the net and will smash you to bits with her massive tail. They both got a right soaking but they loved every second of it…. Brilliant!

Bait & Rigs

On the bait front Gary started off with the Scopex Squid food pack mix of boilies, pellets and flake. He caught a few carp on this mix but also some catfish and after he’d had a few, he switched over to an all veggie approach using oily hemp, small mixed seed and a few tigers. On the rig front, Gary stuck to my tried and tested blowback multi and an inline running lead. All rigs were put out using a bait boat to keep things neat and accurate. It wasn’t fancy, it wasn’t complicated and it worked great. More importantly, it enabled Gary and Luan to have the relaxing holiday that they wanted.

It was a delight to welcome them back, they already consider the place a second home. It’s a privilege to share the place with people that love it as much as we do and we very much look forward to welcoming them back again next year.
